Whoopsie. If you found your way here from a link somewhere on our site, we are not currently offering consulting services.
Sorry about that! We’re focusing all of our high powered lasers in the Lab on writing loads of in-depth, useful software reviews for folks like you.
We may open up our consulting services again in the future, but for now, we can’t take on any new clients.
This is the part where I’m supposed to tell you how easy it is to make 6-figures a year with an online business.
Only, I’m not going to do that, because you’re smart, and you know that it’s not so easy. (Possible, yes. Easy, not so much.)
But that doesn’t mean everything on the path of building your business has to be insanely hard.
And the best way to make things easier? Is by getting personalized help from someone who’s done what you’re trying to do. Someone who’s been learning and building and screwing up and trying again and succeeding and struggling and doing it over and finally winning again.
If you’re reading this, you just found two of those someones.
I’m Forest Linden, co-founder of Clarity lab and editor-in-chief of the popular Signals in the Noise newsletter.
In building my previous businesses, I found out the hard way that NOT having the advice of someone who knows what they’re doing makes building your business incredibly difficult.
Back when I began my entrepreneurial journey, I had an idea for a business I could form around my skills. A business with an online program where I could teach people how to use the software for their online businesses.
Naively, I jumped in and tried to work out how to build a business like that on my own, without anyone’s help. (Yes, I’m the guy who doesn’t think to stop and ask for directions. Because, Google Maps.)
Been there. Done hat.
Soon into the business crafting journey, I realized that I would need to wear 11 different hats: Software whiz, website guy, copywriter, content marketer, search engine optimization specialist, blogger, customer support agent, teacher, business strategist, product launch manager, and project manager.
“Um…11 hats? Okay. Sure. I can do that,” I thought to myself. “I’ll just do some Googling to find some free content and I’ll buy a couple of online programs that will teach me how to do it all. I’ll be fine.”
The thing is…I wasn’t.
Holed up in my home office, I was struggling through long, long weeks of 10 to 12 hour days. Struggling to learn. Struggling to build the business as fast as I could. Struggling to find answers to questions I didn’t even know I should be asking.
Somehow, I reached success…a goal I had set for the journey before I began. I just about cleared $100,000 in 11 months and was starting to feel like I was living the dream.
The only problem was that I went through hell to get there. I might have looked Facebook happy on the outside, but behind the scenes, I felt like this:
Though I felt incredibly alone at the time, I found out years later that, surprise, surprise, I wasn’t the only one struggling through hell (and sucking air) to get to some moments of success.
Over the last year, the husband of my wife’s photographer and I became friends, and I found out that he’d been sucking air on the way to his success, too. We got along well and soon started looking for a business to build together.
His name is Chris Bleill (that’s him over there to the right), and you’re going to see more and more of him around Clarity Lab, because we’re now partnering in the project of building up the Lab into something that can help you in a much bigger way.
One of the shared experiences Chris and I have in common is this struggle around starting businesses without having anyone to give us help and advice about what we’re trying to do with this whole business thing.
He’s built multiple online e-commerce businesses selling physical products, and I’ve built many online digital commerce businesses selling knowledge and training programs.
In both of our stories, we found that despite the knowledge and advice we’d gather from free blog posts, free pdf reports, and some online courses, at every every step of the way, we’d have new questions, like…
“What the heck should I focus on this month? This week? Or even just TODAY?”
“What software should I use for my business? (There are like 147 options, and I have no idea which of them will work for what I want to do.)”
“How do I configure my online store to best represent my products and get sales?”
“How do I price my products and programs?”
“How do I get people to come to my website and sign up for my email list?”
“What in the world is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and why does it matter?”
“How can I make a positive impact in people’s lives AND make enough money to live the lifestyle I want to live?”
“How can I do this marketing thing in a way that doesn’t make me feel like a smarmy used-car-salesman?”
Questions, questions, and more questions.
They kept coming and coming for both of us. If you’re trying to start or build a business, I bet these kinds of questions sound familiar.
Both Chris and I would handle questions like these in the same way: we’d spend hours and weeks Googling and reading, looking for answers. We’d find something that sounded good, try it, and hope for the best.
For me, my stress levels got pretty high through this process. If I chose the wrong answers to important questions like those above, I could send my new business, and all the support for my family that it could bring, crashing into the ground.
One important question like that would take me three weeks to answer.
For a knowledgeable consultant, it would have taken three minutes.
Investing money on advice and guidance from someone like that? Would have been a far better way to spend my small pile of startup funds than buying $7,000 worth of video gear that I didn’t need to buy. (Yes, I actually did that and thought it was a good idea at the time.)
We believe that if you try to build what you’re building alone, you’re essentially cranking up the “hardness meter” into the red zone.
That’s why we’ve got something that can seriously help someone like you:
Private, one-on-one business growth consulting.
Here’s the deal: There is no big, red “easy” button that you can press (despite what some big online marketing gurus will tell you.)
But there is a button on the web that says “Make things easier for me” (It’s actually just a little further down this page), and it works brilliantly.
You just click that button and you’ll actually get direct, personalized help, from either Chris or me. Help that can make things so much easier on you. Help that will take the ouch and errrrrggggghh and UGH!! Out of building and growing your business.
Here’s how we can remove a lot of the hard parts of your entrepreneurial expedition for you.

Why should you listen to us?
I know, I know…talk is cheap, right? Experience, though, is expensive. Over the last 10 years, here’s how I’ve invested to get the experience I’ve gained:
- I’ve built one “almost 6-figure” business, called Tech Husband, that helped hundreds of women entrepreneurs learn how to use the software needed to power their businesses.
- I created another business called Joomlashack University that made $200,000 in its first year by selling website development training to entrepreneurs.
- I helped run and grow the Art of Money (you may have heard of it, it’s my wife Bari Tessler’s financial therapy business) since its conception 15 years ago and was the full-time CEO and Director of Marketing over there for the last three years. It’s now generating over $350,000 a year.
I’m also a mega online business geek who’s constantly reading and studying and experimenting.
I keep a finger on the pulse of what other Yoda’s and Obi Wan’s are doing out there. And that means I can give you not only my own hard-earned, first-hand knowledge, but I can also share what’s working best for others in the industry.
“Follow Your Bliss.” It’s such a common phrase that it’s on bumper stickers across the world. Don’t tell anyone, but Chris actually loves that saying, particularly within a business context. So, please…follow your bliss and come up with a product or service that you love and want to share with the world.
But here’s the thing: when it comes time to put up that online store, share your message, and sell more of that product or service to your customers, your Bliss will have no idea how to do that. Lucky for you, Chris does.
He’s purchased and grown multiple online stores over the past few years that have made more than a million dollars in revenue.
He’s also part of a few select online communities dedicated to sharing and analyzing the best practices in e-commerce, and in those groups, he’s always learning and then experimenting with his own stores.
And that? Means that he can pass on the best of the best techniques to you, so you can grow your business like bonkers. The guy devour marketing, technical, and business books by the dozens (he’s the only guy I know who reads more business books than me) and he never seems to get tired of learning more.
But all that knowledge is meaningless, unless he can use it to help someone like you.
The Word on the Street About Forest and Chris
“With the recent explosion of online marketing tools, I am not sure how most people manage to cut through the clutter to come up with the best technology stack for their unique needs. But I DO KNOW how I was able to do that quickly for my business … I did a consulting session with Forest Linden.
Forest is a good listener and asks great questions. He took time to really understand what I wanted to accomplish, what my experience level was, and what was important to me. Then he gave me several options along with a personal recommendation of what he would do first.
We haven’t looked back since. Best money I have ever spent. Don’t get caught in the “paralysis by analysis” cycle that I got sucked into … spend a little time and a little money with Forest. You’ll thank me later.”
~Chris Ayers, Founder of Expert Leverage
“Chris has real world e-commerce experience which gives him an excellent grasp of what business owners need. He helped me with general online marketing strategy, search engine optimization, website development, and product listings on Amazon. He brought to light new ideas and e-commerce marketing techniques that really made a difference. He is always a pleasure to work with and has consistently over-delivered on my expectations.”
~ David Cooke, Owner Cooke Industries and SoCalFirePits.com
“Making decisions alone here in my solo biz feels like I’m swinging out in the wilds on a trapeze with no net and no spotter. Even just having an occasional, strategic spotter like Forest, when I’m swinging over some of the dicier uncharted canyons, can make all the difference.”
~ Victoria Smith
“The launch was a success! And considering I did it around the holidays, I’m happy with the results. Thank you so much for all the support and guidance. I am eternally grateful. I couldn’t have done it without you! It feels good to be able to launch in a way that feels good and aligned with me. Of course there’s fine tuning to do as I go, but I feel more confidence that I’ve found a packaging and positioning that can really take me where I want to go right now with my business. Thank you, thank you, thank you…”
~Sara Avant Stover.
Who is this for?
We specialize in helping small online business entrepreneurs. Whether you’re just starting out or already have a business up and running, we can help you if you’re selling either information products (like online programs or ebooks), or physical products in an online e-commerce store.
Concerned about which one of us will be the best to work with? Don’t be.
Once you sign up for your first session, we’ll send you a simple questionnaire. Based on the answers and information you send us back, we’ll match you up with the best consultant on our team of two.
Iron-clad Money Back Guarantee
It’s important to us that you walk away with actionable advice that can grow your business if you implement it.
We always strive to deliver that in our consulting sessions, but if you don’t feel like we’ve done that for you, you can request your money back within 7 days of your last session, and we’ll send it to you. Iron-clad and easy peezy.
What does it cost?
$250 per hour-long session
This first 60-minute session includes an assessment of, and research for, your business and current primary challenges. We do this assessment and research before the live consulting session.
During the live hour-long session, we’ll review the results of our assessment, discuss different solutions and paths you could take, help you make decisions, and make sure that you walk away with an incredibly clear set of action items to help you get to the next goals you want to reach by the time you want to reach them.
You’ll also get a recording of the live session in case you don’t capture all the details during the live discussion.
Limited Spaces Available
If all of this is sounding good, here’s something important to keep in mind: Chris and I don’t have an endless amount of availability for consulting sessions.
During the day, Chris works at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and in his free time, he’s working on building Clarity Lab with me. When he’s not busy being a rockstar and helping the JPL team land rovers on Mars, he’s thrilled to help entrepreneurs like you, but he doesn’t have a lot of available consulting slots.
I spend most of my time working with Chris to build the knowledge engine that will lift Clarity Lab into orbit.
It’s a big project that will demand an incredible amount of work, which means that I have a limited amount of available slots for consulting sessions.
And in case you’re wondering, I’m not trying to create a false sense of urgency so that you’ll sign up for sessions. That’s not how we do things around here.
Chris and I honestly don’t have a large number of available slots for consulting sessions.
So, if you’re interested in having our help and support, don’t wait too long.
We got your goat.
That phrase is funny, isn’t it?…”to get someone’s goat.” It comes from the use of goats as a calming influence for racehorses prior to a race. A horse’s goat friend would keep them calm and relaxed, and if someone snuck into their stall before the race and took their goat (which used to happen), the horse would become nervous, agitated, and even angry.
The nefarious goat stealer would literally get a horse’s goat, causing that horse to get stressed out, and lose the race.
When I heard the story of where that saying came from, it made me think of you. You’re an entrepreneur and the journey you’re on is pretty similar to a racehorse preparing for, and racing in, a big race.
Chris and I are like the horse trainers, and the helpful guidance and advice we give in our sessions is like your goat, giving you a sense of peace and calm before the races. (Or maybe Chris and I are the goats.)
Either way, you bring your challenges and questions and stuck spots about your business, and we’ll bring that goat.
